Three batches of Banana Boat Hair and Scalp Sunscreen have been recalled due to the presence of benzene.
The voluntary nationwide recall was issued Friday by Edgewell Personal Care. The recall comes after an internal review found that samples of the SPF 30 hair and scalp spray contained trace levels of benzene, which is a carcinogen.
The recall applies to 6-ounce cans of the spray with expiration dates of December 2022, February 2023 or April 2024.
No other batches of the hair and scalp spray or other banana boat products are affected by the recall. There have been no adverse reactions reported.
Edgewell has notified retailers to remove any remaining recalled product from the shelves.
Consumers should stop using the affected product immediately and throw it away or return it.
