Chrissy Teigen has taken to Instagram to share with her fans that she has been feeling “slightly down lately” as she continues to grieve the loss of her son Jack.

The model, cookbook author and TV host, posted an old photo of herself and husband John Legend sitting at one their favourite restaurants in New York called Frank, along with an emotional and lengthy caption.

She began by reminiscing on her time in New York “when things were simple” and admitted she had been recently reflecting on all the “stuff” she had been through since then.

“It kind of started when I was thinking of my book caption and typed out ‘my third baby is here!!’, as in cookbook, then realised my third baby will never be here,” she wrote.

In September of last year, Teigen and Legend announced they had suffered the loss of a pregnancy with their third child. “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before.” At 20 weeks, Teigen was diagnosed with partial placenta abruption, and was eventually hospitalised due to excessive bleeding.

Teigen and Legend are parents to daughter five-year-old Luna and three-year-old son Miles, both of whom they conceived via IVF

The pain of this loss has resurfaced for Teigen after announcing her latest cookbook Cravings: All Together: Recipes to Love, which includes a tribute to late son Jack. Inside there is a dedication page that features a photo of cookies scattered across a counter, with the words “For Jack” printed in the middle.

“I realised I threw myself into the book to not think of the real, actual third baby.”

Teigen continued to open up on the post writing, “I don’t really feel like I fully processed Jack and now that I don’t have the alcohol to numb it away, things are just…there, waiting to be acknowledged.”Just a few months after the loss of Jack, she declared she had quit alcohol and by December, 2020 was four weeks sober.

Her husband John showed his support by leaving a few heart emojis on the post, and many fans also showed support in the comments section.

“Life is so complicated. Well wishes, Chrissy,” one typed.

“They say time heals, hope it heals you”, another posted.
