As well as being, well, the most recognisable monarch in the world, the Queen is still a normal mother, grandmother and great-grandmother behind closed doors – and she’s proven just that in this latest viral clip.
A newly resurfaced video shows the Queen telling off her grandson Prince William (in a very public setting, no less), and it’s sweet to see the casual grandmother-grandson relationship between the pair.
The clip was taken in 2016 during the annual Trooping the Colour celebrations, where the royal family traditionally gather on the Buckingham Palace balcony – so, yeah, a pretty public place for William to be told off by his grandma, then.
We can see members of the royal family, including Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, the late Prince Philip, and little Prince George and Princess Charlotte standing together on the famous balcony in the video – but it’s the Queen and Prince William right at the front that you’ll want to pay attention to.
Carrying a young Prince George onto the balcony, Prince William stands the then almost-three-year-old at the front, crouching down to point out the planes (which fly over the event) to him, before turning around to talk to Prince Harry.
However, it looks like William may have spent a little too long crouched down on the balcony, with the Queen nudging and telling him to stand up in the funny clip. It’s fair to say the Queen looks less than impressed, but we reckon she looks just like any other grandmother telling off her grandson.

Of course, William then takes his grandmother’s orders and stands straight up. It’s thought that the Queen may have viewed William’s crouching as disrespectful to the RAF fly-over, which happens each year at Trooping the Colour. But regardless, this glimpse into the pair’s everyday relationship is still sweet to watch!
